Why health insurance?

Medical costs are rising every year. A single hospital stay for surgery, an accident or a serious illness can cost several lakhs and wipe out years of savings.
Health insurance pays hospital bills as per the policy terms, either cashless at network hospitals or by reimbursement. Cover from an employer is helpful, but it usually ends when you leave the job, and it may not cover parents.
