← Mutual Funds and SIP · Lesson 1 of 3
What is a mutual fund?
A mutual fund pools money from many investors and invests it in shares, bonds or both, managed by professional fund managers and regulated by SEBI.
You receive units. The price of one unit is the NAV (net asset value), which changes with the market.
Types in brief:
- Equity funds: mainly shares; for long-term goals; can go up and down a lot.
- Debt funds: mainly bonds; lower ups and downs than equity, still not risk-free.
- Hybrid funds: a mix of both.
