← How Insurance Claims Work · Lesson 3 of 3
Avoiding claim problems
Most claim problems come from a few reasons:
- Illness or habits not disclosed in the proposal form
- Claim during a waiting period, or for an excluded treatment
- Missing documents or delayed intimation
What helps: honest disclosure, understanding exclusions, keeping documents organised, and informing on time. If you are unhappy with an insurer's decision, you can approach its grievance cell, IRDAI's Bima Bharosa portal, or the Insurance Ombudsman.
